Continuing my search for a first and reliable car I ran into a 2008 Lexus Is F with about 192,000 miles for about $18,000. Now I know its way over priced so I would obviously try to pay less but should I be afraid to buy it because it's really high mileage ? Or maybe because its a V8 and scotty said those are a pain killer to fix if they break down.
14 years old+192k miles+ Lexus V8 is a huge maintenance nightmare
The market for that thing is no more than 10 grand you should look for something less miles and if you want to get a Lexus get a V6.
18 grand could get you a 2019 Camry V6 or 2014+ Lexus ES350
Also, first question should be: Can you handle driving a V8 in a tiny IS? The V6 is even stretching it for a first time driver no way if it was in my hands would I let anyone get a V8 sports luxury compact car as a first car but thats your call.
It will already cost a few thousand dollars to replace the starter and knock sensor for the V8 on those when they fail. If you like the Lexus IS I would go for an IS with the V6; it will be cheaper to maintain/repair than that V8.
