Should I buy this Solstice

I’m thinking about buying a 2008 Pontiac Solstice 2.4 L LE5 ecotec automatic with 61,000 miles, clean history, no accidents, great maintenance history for $13,000? what do you think of these? would this be a good purchase?

$13k for a 15yo post-bankruptcy vehicle, with an ecotec engine, that was discontinued?   Sounds like the worst idea ever.

They’re not bad little cars, but not really good either. For the same price you can get a Miata, which is more reliable and has better aftermarket support.
I’ll grant you that the low mileage is a plus. And if it passes an independent inspection it might be ok. But I still think there are better options.

My personal mechanic is selling the car, and the LE5 engines are actually decently reliable. I have a G6 with the same engine and it has 155,000 with no issues, so i’m familiar with the powertrain.

The engine itself may be somewhat reliable, but the engine isn't directly driving the car -the transmission is, and their automatic  transmissions were the weakest link -if it's indeed an automatic, you neglected that part. If you buy it, it's not worth $13,000. https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/pontiac/solstice/

I found one with similar mileage at a dealership for $10,500. Private party is worth less than a dealership. Unless your mechanic also runs a dealership, offer him less, it's not worth $13,000.

Scotty says yes if they can prove the real mileage at 5:32

In most people’s eyes, it’s a disappointment for it to have an automatic which i understand. My 07 G6 is on its original engine and transmission, no problems and have changed fluid regularly
