Okay, So approximately two months ago I bought this truck; 2008 Chevrolet Silverado CK 1500 VortecMAX, 6.0. Within a month it started throwing codes at me: one was P0304, And the other is P0068 the former being random misfire cylinder for the latter being oxygen sensor bank one sensor two. Since the first code, I replaced all eight cylinder coil’s, with respect to each spark plug, and wires, All four o2 sensors, A throttle position sensor and mass airflow/mass air pressure sensors. I’m now in the process of doing a compression check cylinder four. Any ideas, am I just chasing dreams? I really need some help
What is the mileage?
+/-233000
It’s a bad idea to shotgun replace parts. Especially if you are using aftermarket parts. Replacing all four O2 sensors isn’t usually a good idea. It’s best to swap and test and isolate the one bad part. Example you had an error for bank 1 sensor 2. Thats usually driver side downstream behind the cat sensor. You can swap it with passenger side. If code moves to bank 2 sensor 2 you kniw sensor is bad and replace it. Ive seen aftermarket parts be bad and cause more codes that the original broken one. What codes are you getting now?
Just because one coil fails doesn’t mean they will all fail soon. Usually isolate and replace coil. Now spark plugs are a full set item.
You need to use a diagnostic tool to monitor the MAP, MAF, and TPS signals to see why the PCM is complaining about them. If you have a broken wire somewhere, replacing these expensive sensors is just a waste of money.
Thank you for the response, and though I do agree normally, it’s been my experience that when one of a set of anything begins to fail, it’s within short succession that all begin to fail if for no other reason than undo stress from carrying the load of another. That was my sole reasoning.
Yea, plugs, brake pads etc. but ignition coils and O2 sensors, just not the case. Been doing this long enough to know you’re just creating more work and problems for yourself . That approach can’t be working but so well if you’re here asking for help. But if you have the time and money and it makes you happy then go for it.
