Hi,
Vehicle specifications:
2009 Ford escape hybrid;
Automatic;
4WD;
150,000 miles;
bought from dealership;
I bought this car nearly 3 months ago. In these 3 months, this car was towed two times, and a lot of repairs done. I put new tires, new AC, new fan, new radiator, new fuel inlet valve, new throttle body (all new parts with warranty). I spent a total of $10,100 as of now. Will this car have more repairs again? Should I keep this car or sell it off for a small amount?
Even a Toyota hybrid that old would be a risky buy. If you can get a good price for it I'd ditch that thing and stay away from old hybrids when you replace it.
I would sell it. If your having that many problems within three months including towing- get rid of it.
SELL!
Sell it, even for Toyota hybrids (which are the best and most reliable hybrids in the auto industry) it’s not a good idea to keep them beyond 150,000-200,000 miles since that’s when repairs to the hybrid system (like replacing batteries, generators) really become costly (easily several thousand dollars up to even $10,000). But yours is not even a Toyota hybrid which is even worse since more things are prone to act up: you are at 150,000 miles and moving forward if you intend to keep it for any length of time it will become a money pit. Had you asked this forum before you purchased it, we would have told you not to get it in the first place!
