[Solved] 2009 Lexus RX450 hybrid CVT oil change procedure

Hello,

My friend bought himself a 2009 Lexus RX450 hybrid. When he decided to change the CVT oil the shop told him that he had to leave the car there overnight for it to cool off and let the oil set, or something. He asked me if that is the real procedure and I don't know much about CVT transmissions and couldn't even find an answer to that question on the internet. Is this the actual procedure for changing oil on CVT transmissions?

I am skeptical about that, since in my country, people steal catalytic converters from cars VERY often. Even when you have it parked right next to your house.

So, I am asking you fellow car enthusiasts for a simple answer.

Thank you all in advance.

Thank you very much for the answer. I have watched this video before and many others. He doesn't address the "leave the car overnight" part so I am assuming that, leaving the car overnight at a shop to get its CVT transmission oil changed on the next day is just a hoax.

It is also possible that the mechanic does not want to get burnt from the engine heat when changing the transmission fluid.

Well, they can say that, then and not make up some excuses. And it takes 2 hours tops for engine to cool down, not 24 hours. Well I consider my question fully answered. Thank you very much.

Sorry...  I can't read people's minds. Ask him yourself.

Otherwise, it's his choice how he runs his business. If you don't like it, there are others.
