I am looking to buy a 2010 Corolla S with over 200,000 miles. The owner says the automatic transmissions needs to be rebuilt but the engine runs great. He is asking less than $2K. Does this model Corolla have any issues with transmissions? Seems strange to me that a 10 year old Toyota transmission needs to be rebuilt. I wonder if it may just be a shifting solenoid. Thoughts?
It is possible, it got high mileage.
Depends on how the car was driven and how it was taken care of.
@yaser
All I know is that it is a single owner who used it for work. But, my wife said forget this one and buy a similar in good condition. Probably a smart move. But, one in good condition is at least $6000. This would be for my 16 year old daughter.
To make sure about the car health, you have to take it to a professional mechanic. Needless to say that cars are so complicated and so the people, so you can not trust anyone (as Scotty always says).
Spending $100 or so to make sure the car is in a good condition gives you a peace of mind since you also want the car for your daughter.
