why is my truck numbered

I have a 2010 F150 Platinum that I bought used from a dealer in Wisconsin, the salesman told me the truck was built in Canada because it has part numbers that were embossed right on the glass of the windows and mirrors , the fact that the part numbers were embossed on the glass never struck me as odd or unusual but what I did find odd was what I found under the hood, every single part under the hood has been etched with a Ford part number by hand, has anyone ever run across this before? Why and how would someone do this? I can't imagine how much time would have been spent looking up the Ford part numbers then having to remove a bunch of the parts just to etch a number into them then reinstall. BTW I looked into the VIN and the truck was actually built in Dearborn Michigan but the paperwork in the glovebox showed the first owner bought it in Quebec. All safety decals are written first in French and then secondly in English also the owners manual is in French only .I'm confused

Why and how would someone do this?

maybe for theft purposes, in case it was ever found abandoned or parted out. Or maybe it was a fleet vehicle.

Theft deterrence I assume.
