2010 Ford Fusion Sport A/C does not work when car is at idle.

Hello,

I drive a 2010 Ford Fusion Sport (3.5L FWD model) and I've been having A/C issues for the past 2 years. I have taken it to several mechanics and spent thousands of dollars trying to fix my A/C.

This is what has already been replaced:

Radiator, Compressor, Condenser, Evaporator Expansion Valve, A/C Hose, and the system has been recharged several times and has been checked for leaks.

Every one of these repairs were not successful at fixing the main issue: the A/C does not cool when car is stopped/idling. It will cool slightly when moving, but as soon as you stop at a red light it stops cooling and pumps ambient air.

My guess is a cooling fan is failing to engage, which means it only cools when air is being forced into it when driving. I've heard it could be an issue with the evaporator temperature sensor, but that's an $800+ repair and I want to be sure it's the problem before I spend that kind of money.

Thank you.

Failure of radiator and/or condenser fans is probably the most common cause of AC problems at idle. Why wasn't this relatively simple problem checked for before all those expensive repairs were done?
