Hey Scotty, I got a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and there's this strange hissing noise that sounds like a radio static or timing belt spinning on the front right passenger side. It can only be heard when the car is on idle and gets a little louder when accelerating. It doesn't sound like it is coming from the engine, but it can be heard under the car near the front right wheel. What could the problem might be?
Sounds like it could be something with a fan belts remove the fan belts the noise goes away you know that what it was
If is not a belt issue, check the AC compressor. Its located in the lower right of the engine.
Probably the AC Compressor. Not likely one or both of the belt idler pulleys: They cause a "squealing" sound that increases with engine speed. Could also possibly be a vacuum or pressure leak on right side engine line(s), but this should generate a code.
BTW, a 2011 Crown Vic is a VERY RARE vehicle, very very few made, over 80% of those taxi's. Then PI's, with a small handful being CV's or Lincoln TC for fleet use. The last one made was a white CV, earmarked for a Saudi collector.
Actually, 2010 was to be the final year for Panther Platform vehicles made in Canada, but because of residual component levels, company elected to keep line running until components ran out, hence a very small amount of 2011 vehicles. However, like in TC's, there WERE components unique to only the 2011 model year.
