I have a 2011 hyundai santa fe 2.4L , auto trans, 2wd. 167k.   over the last few weeks i have been getting multiple trouble codes that are all over the place.  i have logged all the times it has thrown codes.  NOW  I CANT DRIVE CAR WITHOUT IT STALLING .

ANY SUGGESTIONS OR PCM REPAIR PLACES.

it all started on Mar 09,2022  . started car and went to turn out of parking lot and traction light when on, turned back into parking lot, shut car off and restarted it. No light and drove home 5 miles.  next day driving on expressway and was going about 40 mph and  went to changes lanes, and car goes into limp mode for  a few seconds, check engine and traction light comes on and the RPM gauge is at 0 for rest of drive which was about 15 miles. after a few seconds went out of limp mode and drove fine. got to work and turned car off and then back on , NO MORE LIGHTS AND DRIVE HOME was FINE.  scanned car with a cheaper scan tool .

Mar 09

Fiancé driving car for about 5 miles round trip. Went to store, restarts car after shopping and turns out of parking lot when the traction light appears, she pulls vehicle back in lot, turns car off and then restarts car light goes off.

                                                                                       Mar 10

Drive is 24 miles each way

Driving on expressway   as I’m accelerating, changing lanes, traction light comes on, goes into limped for a mode 5-10 secs, rpm gauge drops to 0 and stays at 0 for the remainder of drive. car allows me to proceed and functions normal the remainder of drive.    Got to work, turned car off then back on light goes off. Drive home was normal with no problems

AT home try to replicate the problem with a test drive for about 30 mins. car drives normal.   no lights / codes are below

Codes c1643 dtc -comm    time out yaw rate and g sensor.

C1611   dtc-lost communication with ecm

                                                                                   Mar 11

Cleaned throttle body plate with tb on vehicle with maf cleaner on rag, did move throttle with hand.  Started car to go to work   check engine light appears, throws code but drives normal to work. tried a relearn procedure. Started car kept rpms at about 3k rpms for 5 mins for a relearn. Turned car off. No light. no problem driving home from work which is 25 miles. code that was present.

P0106 – dtc-map /barometric pressure circuit range performance.

I cleared code and   car drives fine until    march 15 after about 150 miles

                                                                   Mar 15

Traction light appears while driving after making a hard turn but didn’t hit nothing. only driving about 1/4 mile.   Throws     code b-1493 ocs communication error.  turned car off then restarted car.  it was a hard start, traction light stayed on returned home after a 1/4 mile. turn car off wait a min stared car light is off. Drives normal again. test drive for another 10 mins. car is normal

code b-1493 ocs communication error

although it seemed live data was slow/lagging in my scan tool but it is only a 200-dollar tool. example: car went from 800 rpm to 2500 by time tool caught up. I was in idle at stop light again.

      Mar 16

Driving 3 miles was waiting at stop light to change, proceed from stop light, car jerks check engine came on a quick second then disappeared but traction light stayed on.  goes into limp mode, rpm gauge not drops to 0 and remains there the whole ride home. rough idle for the first few mins when at stop lights.  Car then begins to drive normal come to a stop light, proceed from stop light car goes back into limp mode for about 4 blocks then goes back to normal.   Get home turn car off.  Restart car is normal drive for about 30 mins no lights.   Codes below appeared

B1493 ocs communication error, C1611 active cooling fan relay

Drove car to dealer about half hour after test drive which is approx. 8 miles no problem

AFTER KEEPING CAR FOR TWO DAYS. dealer said they only spent a half hour with it and was no help and basically related the same info that you can pull up on google when researching the C1611 code about Potentially being three problems and said its either the abs system module, which is obsolete now, the computer ecm which he can’t get or problem in wiring harness.  Basically, no help at all    ASKED DEALER IF I GOT A REMAN ECM OR ABS CAN THEY REPROGRAM/RELEARN. HE SAID THEY CAN’T/ DON’T RECOMMEND BECAUSE IT HAS A VIN ALREADY BURNED IN IT AND THE CAR WON’T RUN RIGHT.

BUT GAVE ME OPTIONS TO BUY A NEW HYUNDAI

also

I did change the crankshaft position sensor and the driver rear wheel speed sensor after code c1260, c1207, c1611 back in Aug. 2020

27 mar22

Approx. 550 miles from last code/ problem

Took car for test drive after brake job went over some speed bumps and basic driving for about 10 mins. went over a speed bump came to a stop sign, turned left went down the block approaching stop sign and the engine dies. Turn car off. Went to start car, cranked a few times then started.  Engine light and traction light stayed on, no rpms on gauge and was in limp mode for about ½ a block.

Codes:  p0335 local can bus off

 c1611 active cooling fan relay

check fuses all good

switched cooling fan relay with window relay and back   turned a/c on and fan kicked in both times after a few mins.

                                               28 mar22

CONNECTED OUTBREAK BOX TO DATA LINK CONNECTOR

Conducted voltage test with outbreak box from pin 4,5, to 16. read normal 12.3 volts

Conducted ohm test while car was off and asleep between can low and high   61.2 ohms

Conducted voltage test from ground to high can 2.7 v, low was 2.2-2.3

Tested connector for crank sensor with key on ign off ground lead on ground battery post/   12.2 volts, 4.93 volts for signal and 0.1 for ground

Took for test drive for about 10 mins no problem. However, sitting in front of house at idle for a few mins all of sudden rpms went high then back to normal. Let run for a few mins. raising idle to about 2400 rpms and back down.

Codes c1611 active cooling fan relay

I DID NOT REMOVE PCM CONNECTOR FROM PCM  TO CHECK FOR CORROSION YET JUST IN CASE I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC I DID NOT WANT TO ERASE CODE HISTORY OR ANY DATA.

                                                                           MAR 29TH

Tested drove car around the neighborhood for about 10 mins, went over speed bumps, turned left and right down blocks, stopped slow and fast. Was sitting in front of house and the car rpms jumped really quick then idled normal within the second.  Left house to go to work and by 47th, by the factory roads was driving under 20 mph and car all of sudden dies. Went to start it back up, hard start, cranked a few times then drove home.  Traction light and engine light on and stayed on till got home.

Codes c1611 active cooling fan relay

                                                                           APR 01

Drove car about 5-10 mins around the neighborhood. No symptoms.

Tested cooling fan fuse, and relays both relays worked.

Car was in garage and idling for about 10-15 mins car dies. Started right back up. then ran for a while and no problems.

04 APR 22

Ran car in garage on idle for about 10 mins and it died. Started it back up check engine light stayed on.   Revved up to about 2500 rpms ran rough like misfires.  SCANNED CAR

Code: P2006 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH GATEWAY A

  08 APR 22

Drove car to house. Scanned car

Active code:

 C1611 active cooling fan relay

HISTORY CODES STORED:

p0335 local can bus off

P2006 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH GATEWAY A

P200A Passenger buckle switch defect H

PLEASE HELP,

THANKS IN ADVANCE

update:
i had my car fixed at a mechanic shop since was running out of time . they said the c1611 was a a faulty crank sensor which they replaced with oem from Hyundai and also the stalling was due to a intake manifold runner solenoid and had to take off the intake plenum to change parts . i guess my cheaper scanner was giving me a generic codes that were sending me on a wild goose chase. hopefully that is true and my car is fixed
thanks for your help

Well the only way I can figure a car out like that is to personally see it hook up my $7,000 scan tool first analyze the live and historical data then take it on a road test until it acted up and then analyze the recorded data of the time that the car acted up. Try to find a guy like me that can do that or if you're ever around Tennessee and Clarksville I can check it out free

thanks for quick response. i didnt think i would get one that fast since u get 100 questions minimum a day. thank you so much for just replying wish I knew a mechanic like u out here and would love for u to check out car except I'm in IL and car won't make it there keep u posted

if I had to get a new pcm or repair can u point me the right direction of any places I can send it too. I trust your opinion. been watching u for years.

It's possible to have a computer issue. Or it can be a bad ground or corrosion. Anyone one of those sensors that threw a code can be the cause. I think these car turn on the traction and others lights when a fault is detected or mil comes on. If I remember correctly there was a software issue with the PCM and or ECU and they had to be updated. I'm not sure if your year was effected.  I don't have my tools with me so I cannot look it up right now.  You alternator or battery can be bad as well. Your going to have to test the PCM and ECU , check all the wiring,  I remember fixing one of these that had half the issue your having and it was a bad fuse box. Replaced the fuse box and car was fixed. Your car tho is a little worse.  I would check those things out.

Fuse box, connections, ground, if update is needed, proper voltage. ( Battery, alternator) ECU PCM voltage itself.

thanks for your response. i did have an update about 2 years ago then got the 1611 for the crank sensor and rear wheel speed sensor code . i replaced the rear wheel speed sensor and crank sensor . you r right it does throw the traction light on when it goes into limp mode when soe of these codes appear . I was checking fuses and ground at chasis. all were good. I have car at shop now due to time being an issue. I didn't check connections at pcm due to i wanted the mechanic to see the data . my battery at 57 percent alternator was changed last year about 10k miles ago
