My 2011 Toyota Prius hybrid battery (Not the 12 volt battery) has about 42% Life left(Dr Prius battery test). If the hybrid battery died would the Prius still be drivable. Thank you.

@an10nee
My 04 Prius has 240K on it. One break job, one belt, wiper blades and tires. no battery issues what so ever - Im going for 500K

@an10nee
Car is not drivable without hybrid battery, you can get an after market replacement for $1,500

Unfortunately, no.

@yaser
That’s what I thought sadly there is a lot of mixed answers out there. Thank you

When the battery dies, check engine light will come on but you can still drive it until you have to bring it into emission check of course. At least in California, check engine light can't be on to pass the emission test.

@winstonkyu
I don’t think this is true. If the hybrid batter does, the car won’t run.
