2012 Honda Civic LX 1.8L 4cylinder

208k Miles (Automatic)

P0171 Code

Bank 1 Too Lean

I have fix the Map and Maf sensors(New), New throttle body, New intake Hose, New air/cabin filters, New O2 sensors Bank 1 up and down stream, new valve cover gasket, and (4) New ignition coil and spark plugs.

The code reads P0171 Permanent. I had reset the check engine light, but the problem still occurs. It will give me good gas mileage 28 city drives and around 38 on the highway for a short period of time before the check engine light comes back on and reduces everything to 14-16mpg. I have check if all hose were tight and not loose or have cracks but they all seem good. I have tried many different parts replacements even replacing the Map and Maf sensors twice but no luck. Checked the gas cap it seems good.

The first time this problem occurred, the car went into limp mode and won't let me pass 3000-4000 rpm but now it's not doing that. Now all it does is giving me bad gas mileage and not really good at acceleration as before.

I haven't replaced the fuel pump or fuel injectors, but I really hope it's not that (expensive cost).

I need help. I am lost.

Is it possible that the Fuel Filter is inside the Tank/Fuel pump?

Scotty does not usually revisit topics he has already answered.

Most modern cars have the fuel filter inside the pump assembly. Depending on the design It may or may not be possible to replace just the filter.

@chucktobias Thank you

Change the fuel filter first. That could be it. If not generally on those, it would mean that the fuel pump is either not pumping enough fuel or the fuel injectors are restricted. You might try some fuel injection cleaner to see if that cleans the injectors out

@scottykilmer I'm Searching on google but I can't find the fuel filter anywhere. Is it possible that the Fuel Filter is inside the Tank/Fuel pump? Basically just replace the whole fuel pump?
