2013 Acura ILX - Dealer Said I Need to Change Additional Parts?

Hello, I recently brought my 2013 Acura ILX 2.0 for a recall on the drive shafts. Upon completed inspection, they said I need a water pump, lower ball joints and valve adjustments. The car has 115k miles. Are they just preaching BS to get me to pay or do these items typical go bad around the mileage of my car? Total to repair these go just above $2k!

Take it to a good independent mechanic for a 2nd opinion. It is very common for stealerships to drum up business by claiming you need repairs that are not really needed. Service writers work on commission so they have an incentive to recommend as many "repairs" as possible.

Your best bet is to take it to your trusted mechanic and see if you actually need to repairs.

Did you inspect at least the water pump and lower ball joints for yourself and confirm their assessment?  You can also inspect the valves if you feel comfortable getting to them.

Water pump: possibly but unlikely.

Ball joints: unlikely at that mileage, but depends how and where you drive. Take a peak with your own eyes.

Valve adjustment: Scotty says Honda/Acura engines eventually need valve adjustments, but I’m not sure at what mileage.
