The dealer keeps replacing my cat every 3 months with a brand new one

2013 Honda Accord Coupe 4cyl 2.4L 100kmi automatic

The catalytic converter needs replacing about every 3 months or so.  It's under warranty so Honda keeps replacing them with new cat converters for free, and they keep failing before they're supposed to.  What could be the cause of this to happen so often?

Thanks,

Dan

Are you burning oil? Running too rich? Why isn't the dealer diagnosing what's going on, if it's under warranty that's what they are supposed to do.

Take your paperwork and go to a different Honda dealer  - cats go bad for a reason, and that reason might end up damaging your engine as well as burning up catalytic converters.

If the cats keep failing, there is an upstream reason for it.  I'd find an independent mechanic to diagnose the real problem and then, if still under warranty, take it to the dealer and tell them what needs to be done.  They obviously are not interested in finding the cause of the problem.

That's crazy. There's obviously something wrong with the engine. They must be extremely lazy because catalytic converters are very expensive. I wonder if their management knows.

How is a 2013 still under warranty?

emissions equipment usually has longer coverage than everything else on the vehicle. Probably a government mandated thing.

The part itself is under warranty. Good thing too.
