Thoughts on lifting a 2013 Lincoln MKT for off-road use?

Howdy, I have a 2013 AWD Lincoln MKT Ecoboost in good shape with 65k on it, and am considering lifting it for off road use. Am I crazy? Can it be done and be worth it? Somebody talk me down off this ledge 🙂

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I do have a 4x4 4runner for true offroading, but thought it would be quite unique to have an MKT lifted with tires and rims. If we are allowed links, here is one of the drafts of such.

You are crazy.

Do it, and post your results please.

You would have a very unique off-roader for sure, but that's probably not a good idea unless you want toy or something to use occasionally. If it's going to be your everyday normal use car, then yeah keep it at the stock ride height. Lincoln definitely did not design that AWD system for any sort of off-roading use.

I would get a vehicle meant for off-roading.   Otherwise, you will need to upgrade tires, suspension, add skid plates, and once you lift then you’ll need to engineer the rest of the vehicle to handle the added stress placed on components (from lifting).  For true off-roading, 4WD trumps over AWD.  In short, it can get expensive really fast and the MKT is really not a good platform in the first place for that.

Well upon further investigation and unfortunate math, a lift of even 2.5" would not provide adequate spacing for increasing tire circumference, so the project has been officially scrubbed. Up next will be the 2012 4Runner considerations 😎
