Hey Scotty I decided to purchase a Honda with 73,000 miles. I had the car for two weeks & i’ve experienced a few issues with starting the car in the last two days. I have two lights on the Low oil pressure light & the Charging system light. When I first start the car for the day it works fine with these two lights on no issues with starting but when I drive around and park then come back to my car the car does not start. It should like it’s cranking for a while then shuts off. The car also gets very hot on the hood after a short period of time as if I’ve had the car running all day. What do you think I should do? I had the scanner plug and there was no codes displayed as if every thing was fine.

Do not drive the car with low pressure light on, you may damage your engine. Check the engine oil level first. Also, does the engine have clunking noise while running?

About the Charging system light, odds are that your alternator is out. Load test the battery and alternator.

Thanks for reply.. The oil level is 90%. It does have. No clunking noise when it’s starts just a little shaking once the ac is on. Okay I’ll load test the battery and alternator and see what happens. Thanks so much

If the oil level is good and engine sounds normal, you may have faulty oil pressure sensor.

Okay so I would need to change the oil pressure sensor. Should I also change the battery? I was also told some connections may be loose and needs tightened. Im actually taking it to the dealership today to be looked at.

Before going to the dealer, load test the battery and alternator in an Autopart store (e.g. Autozone) and then decide what to do.
