Hi Scotty,

I’ve changed the transmission fluid on my CVT 2.4 liter Lancer below 50k KMs as you recommended in your videos. Thanks.

Vehicle has always been driven in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in extreme winters.

Following service is required:

  • Coolant:

        - Does it need to be flushed or drain and fill?
        - My mechanic will be using store brand 50 50 mix.
        - Mitsibushi recommended flush with a 60 40 mix, and to buy their fluid.

It is not  premixed. 4liter $48 jug from Mitsibushi.

  • Brake fluid:

        - Flush or drain and fill? Dealership recommended flush.

  • Fuel induction service: Do or don’t do?

Thank you,

Josh

I was not able to see the edit button...
Wanted to add that I'm the Original owner and have taken really good care of my car.
- Oil changes done every 8000 KMs.
- Mostly highway KMs.
- Rear differential and transfer case fluid changed at 50k KMs...drain and fill.

You mentioned about the horrible Jatco CVTs and that has me thinking about selling it while the market is crazy right now.
However, I was planning on keeping this vehicle for life as our road trip car. Hence bought brand new. Should I sell or hold on? No issues with the vehicle. {black}:shutmouth:

I would recommend:

1. Flushing the coolant system

2. Flushing the brake fluid

3. Doing the injector service

All of those would be a good idea at your vehicle's age and mileage.

Thanks @mod_man.

I have a mechanic where I service other vehicles. He uses a store brand coolant and dot3 brake fluid.

However, Mitsubishi insists I buy their coolant else I'll void my powertrain warranty. $48 CAD for 4liter premix. Have to buy 2 for drain & fill and 3 for flush.

Was also told my vehicle came with dot4 brake fluid and I need to buy it from Mitsubishi. $33CAD for 1 liter.

Thought I'll share this info with everyone.

Scotty mentions AutoZone is good in the US for parts/fluids. How about Canada...Alberta? Any recommendations?

Cheers.

Autozone, 6504 104 St NW, Edmonton, 780-436-9987. DOT4 brake fluid does not cost $33 in any currency from regular suppliers. Last I checked, there is Bumper To Bumper, Princess Auto and NAPA as well near you.

What does your owner’s manual say regarding the coolant & brake fluid?
