Hello Scotty and the community,

I am interested in the 2014 Subaru Forester with 40,000 miles. There are some cosmetic damages to the car. I was wondering whether if $11,500 is a good price or not.

Thank you

Your talking a car almost ten years old. Despite 40K your probably going to need tires because of dry rot and cracking. All the rubber bushings on the suspension are probably dried out as well as the motor mounts. All the plastic is now brittle. 11k is a little to much considering what a new one goes for. You might also check if the car is one of the bad head gasket model years. Subaru can be a good car if it has been taken care of. Do some research like carfax and the other car data bases.

Good luck

Thank you MrBob for your response. We were planning to get either this vehicle or a new RAV4 hybrid.

That's one of the years that Subaru had problems with excessive oil burning due to faulty piston rings. Then unless it has a standard transmission there's the 9-year-old CVT to worry about possibly being near the end of its life. The claimed mileage is suspiciously low and would need to be verified. I'd pass on it.

My uncle lives near where the vehicle is at. Also, my dad will be coming over there tomorrow to check the vehicle for himself. It was either this vehicle or wait for a new RAV4 Hybrid. Thank you Chuck Tobias for your response.
