Genesis is the name of the brand. What's the model?

In any case, Scotty says stay away from them.

Its a Hyundai, in 2015 it was still them they didn’t break out into their own brand until 2016 I believe

So it is.
But the answer is still the same. In fact, this was yet another one of Hyundai's rolling BBQ's

$17k for a hyundai product?! If you can afford more buy a good Camry or Accord.

I have a 2010 Genesis 4.6 (V8) with 83K. It's been a great car, reliable comfortable and great styling.
It hasn't needed anything but routine maintenance, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.  Also, Hyundai quality really started to go downhill after 2010.

Scotty has talked about issues with newer Hyundai and Kia products in detail; there's also a lengthy discussion on this forum regarding issues Korean automakers have. The recalls they have is all over the web too. Given all of these if you still want to buy one enjoy, they're great for the next barbecue fire.

I had a 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T -- I know what you are describing is a bit different but this may help.

I had mine from 98K miles until 146K (when a deer took it out) and as a stock car I never had to replace anything in nearly 50K of driving in the high mileage range. I found it to have good quality as well.

I think Scotty is a bit off on Hyundai/Genesis. I think it will be a good car -- especially if you are used to domestic brands.
