2015 Nissan Pathfinder 3.5L V6 CVT (I know) 90k miles
No problems yet with CVT. Should I risk fluid change (no flush) or leave alone?
Change it now. The service interval for the 2015 Pathfider with CVT is 30,000 miles. You're at 90,000 now? You should be working on your third fluid change at this point. Is your transmission still working, at all?
No, a CVT doesn't work like that. Apart from the newest Toyotas and Hondas, it doesn't even have one gear, no clutch plates, nada. See this explanation, including the inspection of the pan and filter, after 20K, and the results of a fluid change, from The Car Wizard (on a 2013 Nissan Cube). Particularly with a JATCO CVT, change it, IMMEDIATELY, with the factory OEM fluid.

Thanks!
It’s been working fine … was concerned it could start slipping with new fluid, so was hesitant to “rock the boat”.
Yep, this can “rock the boat” as your transmission has adapted to driving on dirty fluid (you don’t have much choice) but to change it and hope it can be solved with a TCM/adaptation reset…
But at worst you’ll just have to spend acouple grand to replace it with another one… they don’t last long when they’re not serviced properly…
No risk. You must service the CVT regularly. Scotty has addressed this a bunch of times. Watch his videos in the FAQ.
