I am the original owner of a 2015 Scion XB with only 9,000 miles. Other than engine oil, which fluids would you recommend changing for the long term well being of my car ? Thanks so much

Everything else should be good. Toyota products use long life coolant from the factory - 7 years or 150K miles so it should be good on that. I would take it on the highway and drive it 70 mph for a good 30 mins or so. That will get everything up to operating temperature and any condensation build up with evaporate away.

That reads like a choice car. May we have a picture? Look at the brake fluid. Cant hurt to replace the brake fluid. Brake fluid is hygroscopic (absorbs water, water and metal can rust). Although, Scotty says some Toyotas have gone 10 years without needing the change the brake fluid.

See below:  make sure you are on top of your  engine oil and transmission ATF fluid changes since they are the highest ticket items.

Thanks for your advice. Would you replace both the brake fluid and transmission fluid with my 5.5 years of ownership and 9,000 miles ? Thanks so much

Fluids degrade over time. In your case, you only drove 9,000 miles in 6 years (!!) while the average person usually drives 13,500 miles annually. Scotty recommends ATF fluid changes 30,000-70,000 miles (in that range), so for most people driving 13,500 miles annually that is about every 2 to 6 years. I think it’s fair to change both the brake fluid and the ATF now (just a simple drain and fill along with ATF filter change if it has it).  So many people neglect to change the ATF fluid. See our sticky to become more familiar.

I’d just follow the service schedule in your car’s owner’s manual.
