Hello Scotty!
I have a 2015 Toyota Sienna LE with 57,270 miles. I AM NOT having any transmission problems, but I would like to maintain my transmission to make it last. My question is, when should I change my tranny fluid, and do I need a filter, gasket, etc., or just the fluid?
Thank you so much Scotty, love your YT channel, you are a life saver!

I change engine oil every 6000-7000, and the ATF every 30000-40000. I don't use the Toyota WS fluid. Instead, I buy the 1 gal jug of Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle ATF at Wal Mart. You can also price match at Pep Boys. No problem with this fluid in any Toyota auto transmission (no hybrid or steel-belt driven CVT auto). Always check fluid level when HOT or at the recommended fluid temperature.
Thank you!
Why not use WS Toyota?
That Valvoline is not bad, I use it in my old 98' Ford f-150, but if I had that new of a car, I would spring for amsoil ATF, it is great fluid and you could extend the drain interval to probably 100k unless you are towing or something. Drain and fill is not bad, but I always like pulling the trans lines and get most all of it out.
Change the ATF every 60k miles (just drain and fill no flush). You don't need to worry about changing the filter.
What does your owner's manual say? Have you read it? Look in the "Maintenance" section for your answer.
Most manufacturers including Toyota will claim lifetime fluid so that they can claim lower annual cost of ownership. Even the best fluid will break down over time. All of my Toyota auto transmissions run well beyond 300K with regular ATF change.
Thanks Doc!
I would change (drain and fill) the transmission fluid every 40,000 miles on those (to be safe) and use only the OEM fluid.
