Scotty, I bought a 2016 F150 with 65,000 miles. I want to be on top of all fluid changes, and I WANT TO DO IT MYSELF! My question is this, when I change transmission fluid and front/rear differential fluids, do I have to remove cases and covers? Can I use a fluid transfer pump to suck out the old, and pump in the new? Transmission and differentials have good seals, and show no sign of leaks
Sure you can use a pump.
But I would still open up the diff once in a while just to get a visual on the condition of everything, and clean off the magnet.
Also, the transmission filter will need replacing eventually.
Sorry I didn’t realize the arrows were for voting
I suggest removing the pan on the transmission and change the filter
no sense of having new oil and leaving dirt particles in the filter
also if you haven’t done it before I would go to a trusted mechanic to do it
I have a 2015 F150 that is what I did
The transfer case has a drain on it so you can drain and fill
then use your pump to fill with new oil
hope this helps
