Hello everyone. So I have a 2016 Ford Explorer with a manual liftgate. To unlock the liftgate, I have to pull a special button above my rearview mirror. The problem is, when I do this and then turn off my vehicle, the liftgate then locks (I do not have the original keyfob). So then I have to use two hands to unlock/open the liftgate because I have to insert the key and you have to keep the key turned while pressing the liftgate exterior button. It's really frustrating when I have something in my hands as I have to set it on the ground. Is there a way that I can have the regular unlock buttons for the doors also unlock and keep unlocked the liftgate or keep the liftgate unlocked when I turn off the vehicle using the correct liftgate unlock switch? I know this isn't a huge deal but I often have items in my hands that I'm loading into the back of the vehicle. Thanks!!!
Can you buy an aftermarket fob with tailgate button and program it to open the gate?
That may be what I have to do…
