Hey Scotty, I have a 2016 Ford f150 2.7 ecoboost with 114000 and I'm looking at upgrading the exhaust system to get a little more sound. Would this be something that's OK to do or would it potentially hurt the engine. Thanks
If you want to install a cat back exhaust that was built specifically for your truck, you can do that and not tune it. BUT you won't get the most out of it and you may be running a bit rich or lean.
As @yaser said, I would have it tuned for the new exhaust to get the most life out of that EcoBoost. They need all the help they can get. I'll also mention that I've NEVER heard a good sounding 2.7L. They always wind up sounding like weed eaters..
You can do that but if you want to do it correctly, you need to reprogram the ECU.
