Hi Scotty!! Love the channel! we bought a Lexus Rx350 from your advise we love it!!
Our 2016 honda civic has the airbag light on.
Christian auto service center in waco tx said the code shows there is an issue on the passenger side seat.
Their only solution "they say" is to take it to the Honda dealer.... i don't believe is as the car has not been in an accident, though I did carry heavy materials on the seat at a few times. what reasonably priced scanner can I reset it with? connectors are fully plugged in. Respect you Greg T
From what I understand the weight classification sensor for the passenger seat is tripping the code.
There can be three reasons:
- the sensor is not connected properly or the wire snapped, you can reconnect the sensor and reset the code to see if that's the issue. usually mid level scan tools can clear codes.
- the sensor needs a re-calibration. You would require a fancy scan tool that is compatible with your car to do this, can be a wasteful effort if the code comes back because of the last reason.
- the sensor is broken and needs replacement. In this case you need to take your car to a dealer or a collision shop.
IMHO most mechanics will avoid touching the AirBag system and would re-direct you to a collision shop or dealer. Unfortunately it's a tricky spot to be in 🙂
