Hello have a tralhawk with 200,000km the rear end skips at low speeds but only when turning whether it is in 4x4 or not dealership says needs a new differential. Can this be fixed without replacing the whole differential which a 5000 dollar repair

Can I ask if it mainly happens on wet roads? My wife’s 2013 GC might have something similar, but it only happens when it is wet or icy; dealer couldn’t replicate it on dry. If you wouldn’t mind, follow up here when you get it resolved and let us know the outcome.

Wet or dry doesn't matter does it all the time

Nope.  Don't waste your time at a dealership.  Just find a competent, independent mechanic and have him quote you to replace the ring and pinion gear in your rear differential.  It should not be anywhere near $5000.

If it's got a floating axle system, all you have to do is pull the axles, remove the pumpkin and take it to a shop and they can rebuild it on the bench.  If not, you'll have to take the vehicle in.

Thanks for the help weather starting to warm up will start pulling it apart tomorrow
