Hello! I've noticed that immediately after a cold start, as soon as I back out of my sloped driveway, switch out of reverse, and then begin acceleration, the first acceleration in the 'Drive' or 'D' setting tends to be accompanied by a jolt/slip in the transmission. A single slip. It does not continue for the rest of the entire drive cycle or after warm starts. Do I need to add transmission fluid to the vehicle's transmission?
If so, should I use Valvoline Multi-Vehicle ATF or SP-IV ( the original OEM) ATF?
Thank you!
Yes, check fluid asap. I'd use OEM as that is most likely what's in it and less worry about any mixing issues of different fluids. How many miles? Got any leaks on ground/floor where you park?
@hillbilly
No leaks I could see. 35,000 miles on it.
Yea, check the fluid and fill, if required, as per manual. If it was/is low, you need check under car closely to look for leaks Also, any warranty left? If so, get to dealer and have them check it.
@hillbilly
We got it from CarMax with a warranty for 'non maintenance services.' so not sure if this would be covered.
We got the transmission serviced at a local shop. It still does it. Though I do notice that it tends not to do this if you apply some acceleration in Reverse before stopping and switching to Drive. Not sure what to make of it.
