Hey, I bought a 2016 Camry and was wanting to know. How good of a drivetrain they have? I drove a 2019 and didn’t like the thought of direct fuel injection along with the 8 speed auto. Thanks
The 2016 4 cylinder and 6 speed auto combo is very reliable as long as you take care of it the 2018 did have transmission issues but Toyota seems to have solved it by the 2019 model year.
That 6 speed automatic transmission is proven to be one of the best ones out there. Its combination with 4 cylinder engine or 6 cylinder engine makes smooth, reliable ride with a good gas mileage.
BTW, for the current Gen Camry (2018+), their I4 and V6 engines have both port and direct injection, so no carbon buildup if that was the concern. 8-speeds had some issues in first year (2018), but supposedly resolved 2019 and onward. But the last Gen was still excellent, and you did good with that engine/transmission combo.
