2017 Camry Transmission slipping 3rd gear

Hello Scotty.

Follower of your videos for ages and I appreciate all you do but I’ll get straight to the point.

I have a 2017 Camry SE 4cyl 125k miles as my commuter in Orlando Florida. Routine oil changes every 5k. As of two months ago started driving roughly 150 miles a day for work.

Recently my transmission starts to slip going from second to third gear. In detail, when I slowly accelerate it doesn’t go into third for about a second and will de accelerate and then catch third and continue normally. If I accelerate faster it does not have this issue. Trans shop told me that my fluid is clean, but has metal shavings and they believe it is transmission failure. Father in law told me to just drain and fill but I’m getting a second opinion at a Toyota dealer now. Live in Orlando Florida.

any advice? would be much appreciated. Thank you

If you have metal shaving in the ATF, it means your tranmission is physically damaged. Chaning the fluid does not help it, you either have to rebuild the tranny or live with it till it does and replace it with another one.
