Hello Scotty:

I purchased this vehicle used in 2020. I use it quite a bit for rideshare and food delivery platforms. Earlier this month I had an episode where after dropping off a customer and shifting to drive the brakes locked up and did not allow the car to go either forward or back. All the systems showed faults one after the other: ABS, Hill Assist, Cruise Control, etc. I shifted to park and shut it down to reboot the computer. After starting everything worked normal Code: C0040-16. Twelve days later, leaving for work out of my driveway the brakes felt more sensitive, my guess the electric brake booster went into fail-safe mode. Then after driving down the road for about a mile the brakes began to drag on the the rotors until I pulled over. After stopping, same faults began to call out with no movement forward nor back. I checked AllDataDiy for the forced release of electric brakes and manually backed off both electric motors after removing the rear wheels (zip tied the wire harness off). I drove straight to the Honda dealer and was freed but brakes began to reapply on the rotors about half a mile before the arrival. The rotors where glowing and smoking at arrival. They cleared the codes to electrically release the brakes, disconnected the battery, and drove it a bit, and said it was good. Two days later, I drive it at night to try and complete the EVAP protocol and the same thing happens. This time more codes: C0040-16, C0044-49, C0044-F0, U0416-92, U0416-68 (VSA Brake Actuator Malfunction, Electric Brake Booster, and Electronic Power Steering, VSA System Malfunction). My thinking is that the Electronic Brake Booster failed and possibly the VSA Modulator, Brake Light Switch might play a role. The dealer has it again and they are going to see if the extended warranty I purchased will cover the repairs. I asked for all three components be replaced. What do you think? Thank you in advance for your opinion.

Don't let the dealer tell you.  You should know what your "extended warranty" covers.  Are you really going to take their word for it?

Master cylinder and ABS Master cylinder is on the contract. I have the copy, they do not. {blackemo}

Agree with @Doc. Also want to add if i were in this situation I would have a trusted independent mechanic check it and find out what is wrong. Then fully understand what my extended warranty covers and based off of that have the dealership fix the issue my mechanic found (if your extended warranty does cover it).
