2017 Infinity Q60 3.0T good car? (only 32,000 miles)

Scotty,  what do you think of the Infinity 3.0T twin turbo V6 engine?  I know you don't like turbos, I don't either, but my wife does. Her previous 2008 Altima with 3.5V6 went 200,000+ miles with no major problems and no turbos.   Thanks so much for your videos!

Ok, they are pretty good engines in later model years, BUT I would avoid the first couple of years with this engine as they had issues with the turbochargers. If you really want a Q50, maybe look into the 2014-2015 models with the 3.7 V6 engines, they are gonna hold up better than the 3L twin-turbo V6 engines, they are proven to be reliable and you can get a better price on a 2014-2015 model vs a 2017 model.

Thanks, I've read that some have had turbo seal issues. It seems to be a really complicated engine with the twin turbo setup.  KE

yeah, I am sure they have ironed out those issues in the later model years, but from 2016 to 2018, I would say to stay away from those and go for a 2014 or 2015 (most preferably 2015).

You can also look into the old G37 as they are also a good alternative to the Q50 and they go for less, plus they have a good aftermarket for the G's since they sold a lot of them.

It's a rare engine, the 3.0 VR engine has been out only on Q50/Q60 and that'll be the engine for the 2022 Nissan Z.

The things I know about that engine is that it was so "good" that Infiniti ended up replacing the dipsticks and telling owners to put in more oil - Nissan couldn't even build a good oil pan, it uses a threaded insert that's easy to dislodge,

Just looking on NHTSA service bulletins, it's very rough for such a new and relatively uncommon car: Fuel hose quality, Water pumps having coolant residue, Clicking noises from the rear axel, key remote failures, Display issues, Occupant detection sensors, EVAP leaks, EAB system faults, Valve stems of OEM TPMS system sensors leaking, TCU, Fan belts coming off, and MUCH more...

I wouldn't touch that with a 10ft pole - they can be good for some owners, but their quality looks very mixed.

Quite honestly? a Lexus ES350 3.5L V6 would be a much safer bet, I am not a fan of the 6 speed auto they had on their pre-2018 ones (requires religious maintenance and still they usually do have some issues before 200k miles), but the post-2018 ones with the 8 speed are just great (although I'd still recommend changing the gearbox oil at least every 30k miles)
