Hey Scotty I have an issue with my 2017 nissan altima sv it has 159,000 miles on it automatic transmission. I was driving down the highway the other day doing 65mph and my gas pedal went straight to the floor and lost the power to accelerate my car and when I pulled the car over to the side. The car dead and it wouldn't start like the battery was dead. I have been getting a code of a small emissions leak for some time now and I changed my gas gap because the auto store told me to start with that and it would stop and go with the code. But when I got my car towed back home I charged the battery back up again and now it will try to start but fully kick over to run completely. And I don't know what to do. Do you have any idea what it could be? Thank you any information is greatly appreciated.

A couple of guesses since we don't have deep scans, is your alternator charging? If not that would 'splain the battery going dead and the car dropping dead on the road. (If the engine won't run the alternator would need to be pulled out and bench tested.) Also when is the last time the fuel filter was changed?

I agree with above it definitely sounds like you have a bad alternator. As far as the no start now it would have to be scanned again in hopes it’ll trigger a code while cranking. If the battery ran completely dead it’s possible the battery could be causing a ground concern even though it’s charged now. The evap code is irrelevant to any of the current problems and aren’t really any cause for concern unless you have to go through emissions or anything

Any further codes? (It might well take a fancy/dealer-level scan tool to dig deep enough.)

No that's the only one

If you're using a generic OBD2 code reader that won't necessarily read deep enough to see what's going on. In order to test the car's systems a professional-grade bidirectional scan tool is needed.

  1. What is your exact code? You can also look at Scottys video a car that will crank but not start.

P0456 evaporative emission system leak detected (very small leak) for the exact wording of the code that is read
