Hey Scotty,
My brother has a 2017 Nissan pathfinder SL FWD 3.5L V6. He bought it new and has done all the regular maintenance at the intervals you’ve recommended in videos after watching years and hundreds of your videos on a regular basis. It’s got about 85k miles on it, no problems other than a wheel bearing already went out. My question is though why do they say change the brake fluid every 15k miles? It seems ridiculous to do so often but I’ve told him to just do it when he takes it in to have the CVT fluid done every 25k miles because I wouldn’t be surprised if they crap they make is so cheaply made that it lets water vapor get in or any little bit of dirt or debris would ruin the ABS. Any thoughts on this? Thanks! -JP

Who are "they"? Sounds like a dealer service department padding the bill with unneeded "recommended" services not in the manufacturer's maintenance schedule.
Although it's a good idea to change brake fluid periodically, every 15K miles is way too aggressive. Scotty addresses this in a recent video:

Thank you for the quick response! I’ll tell him to back off on the interval. Thanks again, jp

Dealerships make more money on services than on cars. Chew on that a bit.
They really do live up to the “steal-ership” name.
on 9-10 of the manual it says to change the fluid every 20k miles (I did say 15, it says 20k in the manual) I attached the link to the manual if you want to check it out. So I’m assuming just check it with the brake fluid checker tool like every other car? Thanks for the quick responses guys!
I've never heard of changing brake fluid that frequently, usual rule of thumb is 3 or 4 years and Scotty says it can go longer than that. (I recently got an electronic brake fluid tester but have not used it yet.)
