Do I really need to replace my rack and suspension?

Hi Scotty, greetings from Mexico City

My 2018 ILX with 54059 miles is a little hard to turn to the left, and really soft to the righr, went to the service and they say the steering power systhem has to be replaced and it costs 3500. Engine and transmission works and feels excellent.

I would say the previus owner fell into a big pothole becuase the rim was repaired, could that have been damaged the system?

would you recommend to replace it?

Thanks

If the car wasn't checked by a mechanic before buying, I suggest you do it now to find out potential other damages.

Would you think it was well diagnosed?
change powersteering and also the suspension?

Is power steering electric or hydraulic and where is it located? If you hit potholes, curbs etc., it can damage anything under chasis, from suspension to tie rods, and affect steering.

Electric power-assisted rack-and-Pinion Steering (EPS)
That’s what the data sheet says

Do you experience any other driving and steering issues?

The car goes to the right when driving, I changed all tires to new ones, did the alignment and got much better but still goes a little to the right, mot as much but still.
When car is stoped, sometimes in idle it vibrates more than usual, put it in neutral and stops vibrating.

Then it can be suspension and/or something bent.

A big pothole could definitely do damage to the power steering rack causing the issues you're having. Will be a bit cheaper if you go with a local mechanic instead of the dealership, but they're probably not wrong on the diagnosis.

Hi there

I just received a video from the dealership. It is in spanish, but it basically says that the suspension and the Porwersteering should be change. Does it look like it is the right diagnostics?
