2019 Crosstrek Burning Oil

I have a 2019 Subaru crosstrek with 85 000 km. For the past few months I have noticed on start-up a big cloud of blue smoke. This is not consistent with every start-up but I have noticed it happening more and more as time has passed.

The car has been maintained following Subarus’ maintenance schedule with oil changes done every 10 000 km.

I’ve brought this to my local Subaru dealer’s attention and they have just told me to bring it back every 1000km for them to check the dipstick to see if it is burning.

Any thoughts or ideas of what is happening or what we should do as the warranty is going to be running out in the near future.

Sounds like they didn't build that engine right. Have them deal with it while the warranty is still in effect. However most manufacturers for warranty purposes won't do anything unless it's burning more than a quart every 1000 miles. They should be able to check spark plugs and tailpipe for oil deposits as well as checking oil level.

Sorry to hear that.  The only quick/easy/cheap fix that comes to mind is the PCV valve, which is DIY-able. If that doesn’t fix it, you’ll need a second opinion, preferably from an independent Asian car specialty shop.
