Scotty, I've had a 2006 Hyundai Tucson (2.0, 4 cyl, 4 gear automatic) for 14 years and it's never given me any troubles for 150.000 miles. How about the 2019 top trim Tucson with the 1.6 Turbo-GDI engine and 7 gear auto? Is it as good as the old one or an endless money pit that will fall apart in front of my eyes? Thanks!
It will fall apart sooner than you think. Non-turbo Hyundai engines were bad enough to begin with, and when you add turbo to them, you should expect what the outcome will be.
Also want to point out that you're getting the 7-speed transmission...which is their DCT. DCTs are great, but they do tend to have issues later on because of the amount of stress they go through by their own dual-clutch design (it shifts SUPER fast). And they need strict fluid changes every 40,000 miles. Just something to consider...it's not a typical automatic transmission with a torque converter.
