I have a 2019 Chevy Camaro, and I am working with my exhaust at the moment. I will be going open headers for about a month maybe. Perhaps a little less, due to some trouble I am having, and my yearly inspection is this month, should I be worried? Or more importantly, how can I make sure I pass? Do I need to have my CATS, Resonators, etc.. in the exhaust? Or do they require the OBDll test only? Or do they do a visual examination of your exhaust system, to make sure you have all the required components? Thank you Scotty!
how do you expect to pass an emissions test with your emissions equipment removed?
Well Joe, I was asking what they do as for testing in TX. Like will they fail me in f they find electric cutouts, or anything on the lines of that.
Well I'm no expert, but common sense tells me they will hear you coming from a mile away with all the racket coming out of your car, and immediately know that you have no exhaust system. Then they will look underneath and see that there's no cat, and tell you that you can't pass an emissions test without a cat (you know, the car's main piece of emissions equipment. )
I also think that as soon as you start the car after cutting out the exhaust, you'll have fault lights flashing at you from the instrument panel. They're gonna check that too.
But don't take my word for it.
You could always just call the place and ask them, or read the Texas inspection website.

Maybe I'm just full of it and I don't know what I'm talking about. Hopefully someone from TX can chime in with their experience, or Scotty will answer in a video.
Electrical cutouts, meaning you can open and close the valves at will. So if I close them, and go back to the original sound, will they bother?
One look under your hood or under the car and you will fail the test, guaranteed.
