I purchased a pre-certified used 2020 Ford Escape from Rich Ford (Albuquerque, NM) in March of 2021. Previously owned for 2.5 months with only 2.6k miles. However my car started giving me a whole host of issues (locking me out of car for hours at a time, stalling, abruptly stopping, and jumping/switching gears.)
I messaged my sales person 2 days after purchase about some concerns. Since then I have taken the car in 4 times, 3 times they gave me a rental (totaling nearly 30 days) I currently have a rental. They sent me off the first time after only having driven my car only 1.4 miles, I was told that they couldn't duplicate the concerns. Second time they claimed to have corrected some coding in a computer module. This time I got a hold of the director and they are going to get advice from "engineers" in Detroit.
**I have offered to share video footage of some occurrences to help diagnose the issue - nobody was interested at services**
My concern is that my family has been with me when the car has stalled and jumped/changed gears (changed from drive to park) while driving. My mom was injured twice. Despite knowing this they didn't even acknowledge our grief. In addition, I work as a caseworker and haven't driven one client of mine in my car because of liability concerns from my company.
I truly just want to tell them to keep the car and leave me alone, despite the $4k I've put into it. I was financed at only 4.5%, I put gap insurance, I have an extended warranty, and have about $2k inequity if I were to trade it in. I'm just so done with this process. I don't know if I have a case to sue or get my money back? I need help!
>>P.S I didn't start to watch the Kilmer show until after my purchase. I know I should have paid an extra $2k and got myself into a Rav4. I only purchased a new vehicle to develop my credit. I'm 29 and have always owned used cars for $3k.<<
