Hello, I'm a college student wondering if Mazda Mazda 3 AWD is reliable and worth buying for the long run. If so, is it worth upgrading to the turbo?

FWD Non-turbo is what you want, and yes they are pretty well made especially the latest generation.

I live in an area where there's snow during the Winter. So AWD would be better.

Ok then the AWD systems aren't bad just get the non-turbo would be my advice and check if it has cylinder deactivation because you want an engine that doesn't have that.

Got it! Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!

They aren't bad cars, particularly non-turbo. If it fits your budget why not?

Thanks for your opinion!

Yes, those are well made cars. Go ahead and buy it. I recommend not getting the turbo though.

Well, … I would select a FWD and buy with it four extra tires, … good winter tires, that is! Mounted on their own rims, … and be done with it. That would alleviate extra cost of 4WD system, extra complication of a drive train, reduce maintenance cost, … improve efficiency.

Why am I saying that? I’m in Canada, I’m close to the mountains (Banff, Alberta), and and I potentially drive in snow about 9 month of the year. Yet, … yet my FWD Honda Fit, never got stuck in the snow, never got stranded in the snow, … and we get whoppers, often! FWIW.

Thank you for sharing your experience and advice! Will definitely take it in consideration. 🙂
