Hi Scotty:
Love the show; been watching it for over a year and value the opinions/content that you present.
I used to drive GM and had a negative experience, so decided to try Toyota based on the reputation that it has.
I purchased a 2019 Rav4 and was very happy with it, but I was never really sold on its looks, so I decided to trade it in for a 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport with a manual transmission (prefer trucks). This vehicle came with leather seats with a square pattern design.
I picked the truck up in March of this year and I noticed that after 1,500 kilometers the pattern on the drivers seat (bottom - next to back support as well as on certain areas of the back of the seat), is already worn down. I have a few pictures to send if desired.
I went back to the dealer sales person making them aware and the response was essentially; this is how it is - based on the fact that they had a 2018 model with leather seats that came in on trade and has the same problem.
Just curious if you are aware of such an 'issue' or 'flaw'? I'm 5' 7" and weigh like 140 lbs so I cannot believe I broke/wore down the seat already. I'm very particular and look after my vehicles.
I really like the truck and cannot believe they are all like this. I saw some Google forum, but only a few others seemed to have reported the issue.
Would like to get your opinion before I reach out to Toyota direct to see what can be done.
Thank you;
Michael

Toyota won't do anything. If it's that big of a problem, take it to an upholstery shop and have the seat redone.
You can try contacting the dealer but I don't think they do anything for that under warranty.
That sucks but Toyota will probably just give you lip service.
Not ideal but you could get some high quality neoprene seat covers, these are excellent:
Thank you for the replies/advise...much appreciated.
I had the same issue with my 2020 corrola and cloth seats. I noticed it about after 6000 miles.
As a last resort, I’d send a letter to the Toyota headquarters in Japan and tell them the problem. Reference what your dealer told you. It can’t hurt to give it a try.
