Hey Scotty, what's your opinion on the 19-21 tundras with no trans coolers? Should I install an aftermarket with oem thermostat? I recently purchased a 21 used with 97 miles on it and will be towing in the future. Thanks, Rude dog. ..
If you're going to tow heavy loads I would
Should I install an aftermarket
No.
The gear ratios in the 10 speed transmissions are so close together, that the torque converters hardly slip it all (the primary source of heat in autos). They spend most of their time locked in, and as such they don't get very hot.
This is why Tundras aren't fitted with additional coolers.
But if you need to convince yourself, or maybe you live in very hot climates with steep mountains and regularly tow heavy loads, then I would say monitor the ATF temps with a scan tool first before adding more failure points.
