[Closed] 2022 Trailblazer No Reverse

Topic starter

I have a 2022 Chevy trailblazer RS AWD with 69,000 miles on it. Sometimes it will not go into reverse, sometimes it is slow to go in reverse, and sometimes reverse works just fine. All other gears seem to shift normally. We did complete a transmission flush. The codes we found were P159F and P18E2-00. At this point we think it might be a TCM issue but we don’t know how to prove it. It never happens when at the dealership. Have you heard of this before or do you have any other ideas?

I know, but this was what GM recommended. Still a problem, no surprise. They can’t find any codes. They have had the car 5 times now and basically told us that while they do see the issue, GM doesn’t have a fix. So, I’m now stuck with this car that won’t go in reverse at all currently and the maker of this vehicle has no idea how to fix it.

They can't find it? If they destroyed the transmission, they owe you a new one.

I found a website listing P18E2 as a Range Sensor Circuit code.

https://dot.report/dtc/P18E2

I don't know if the information on this site is accurate but a Range Sensor Circuit fault fits the symptoms.

I would reference OEM service information about P18E2 before proceeding further.

Welcome new member,

You’ve gotten a lot of use from it in 3 years!

And yes, those codes tell you it’s a TCM problem, as you say.  I wouldn’t think it should matter whether it does it all the time.  A dealer should have an idea how to sort the problem.

Are you still under warranty?  If not, I wouldn’t bother with that dealer.  I would take it to the best transmission shop in your area that has a real mechanic.

No longer under warranty, though GM did say they would pay up to 50% of repair costs, which are undetermined since no one can tell us what the problem is. So I guess I’m just supposed to start replacing stuff and hope I replace the right part at this point according to the dealership., who feels terrible for advising this but has no choice according to the response from GM.

Same car, same problem.  Took it in, no codes, so no findings.  Last night took more than 3 tries to get it in reverse.  This time, the "R" flashed on the gear shift.  I've also experienced it lurching from park to drive frequently.

@kbsp I appreciate you had searched first before asked. To get your question seen and receive better help, please create a new topic about your problem. Thank you!

Did either of you find a resolution for the issue?
I have a 2022 BLAZER, 73k miles with the exact same problem.

@td17 It would be best to post a new topic of your own giving all details of your vehicle, the issue(s) you are experiencing, and what diagnostic steps have been taken so far.

@td17 did you find a solution? Same problem here with same year model

@barneslinseyyahoo-com You are unlikely to receive an answer since this topic is about 2 years old and its author has not been active here since.

Please post your own topic giving a clear, concise description of the problem with all vehicle details as well as a description of what troubleshooting steps have been taken so far. Thank you.
