There is a used 23 Toyota Corolla LE at a Toyota dealership at 28k miles, $20,500. It was a rental vehicle as of March 2023 to April 2024. I plan to inspect thoroughly and get a third mechanics opinion. Curious to know if this would be a safe bet in purchasing? Any potential stuff to consider or look for given its history?
Given that the car is only a year old, do you still recommend a third party to inspect it?
Of course. A lot can happen in a year.
Any potential stuff to consider or look for given its history?
Top three things to consider or look for:
1. Oil changes
2. Oil changes
3. Oil changes
With 28K miles and only one year old, there is not much maintenance that would have needed to be performed other than regular oil and filter changes every 5K miles. Additionally it would be good to know if the engine air filter was replaced per manufacturer recommendation. Hopefully the seller can provide documentation for these items.
Given that the car is only a year old, do you still recommend a third party to inspect it? I’ll also do a look through on it.
@cflores I agree with the advice given by @chucktobias. Any used vehicle should be thoroughly inspected by a qualified mechanic prior to purchasing. As my grandmother used to say, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” (a quote from Benjamin Franklin)😉
