4th Gen 4Runner V6 4.0L, Oil in air intake

Howdy Scotty,

I have a 2005 4runner and while cleaning the air intake and changing the filter, I noticed some oil coming from the PCV inlet hose (the one that connects to the passenger side valve cover). I didn't think anything of it and did some "research" on the internet without any luck. The car ran okay so I decided to just watch it for a bit. Soon after I had a leaky valve cover gasket on the driver's side so I had to pull everything off. I think the oil had been draining into the air intake for a while because all of the Intake was covered in oil. Why is oil draining into the air intake? It drains at the PCV Inlet Connection after the filter and MAF but before the throttle body.

I'm gonna change the gasket to start but not sure what to do from here.

Thanks ahead of time.

A bad pcv valve is not letting your engine blow by recycle into the intake manifold.

Change your PCV valve. They're usually simple and cheap. When they go bad, engine vacuum can suck oil into the intake.

Thanks.
After I change the valve, is there any way to remove the oil from the system?

Unless there is a ton of it in there, it should eventually burn off. You can try to wipe it out with a shop rag I suppose, but I wouldn't worry about it if there's not a whole lot in there.
