the truck drives perfectly normal in 2WD when I switch to 4H, it engages quick with no issues. But while driving in 4H, the truck struggles to make sharp turns at slow speeds, it jerks forward and can not maintain speed. Then it struggles to engage back into 2WD. I haven’t tested 4L. What could be wrong?
It's called crow-hop and you're destroying your driveline when you do that.
Never use 4WD on dry pavement and read your owner's manual.
If you still have problems then the dealer is obligated to fix it.
I noticed it while driving through shallow water. 2-4in. Dealing with Hurricane Ida.
you shouldn't need 4wd for that
Okay, thanks! I’ll do this going forward. Do you think a lot of damage was done? This was the first time it happened. So I can’t imagine it was all that bad.
A bit of chain stretch perhaps.
When something mechanical is clearly struggling and resisting you, then just stop. If you keep forcing it, then it will eventually let go, but not in the way you want.
