I have a 1993 f250 5.8 windsor with 90k miles and automatic transmission. I just replaced the pvc valve because it wasn't accelerating good that helped quite a bit. But now when I floor it stays in first gear starts to go over 5,000rpm and then drops for a little bit and then goes back to accelerating. I was wondering what I could do to fix it.
the PCV valve hasn't got anything to do with acceleration. I can also tell you that revving it up to 5k rpm in 1st is the best way to blow something up. have you checked the transmission fluid?
Sounds like a similar issue I had with a crown victoria. It ended up being the shift solenoid, might want to check that.
Was this specifically happening before you replaced the PCV? Or only after? I know you said bad acceleration beforehand, but not 5000RPM in first right?
Did you get an OEM PCV? If you just got one from autozone or etc for like $8 that's no good. Just did the PCV on mine but Scotty was right I needed the real deal Motocraft one from Ebay that's stock.
Can you explain the bad acceleration from beforehand in depth and any other noises or symptoms? And have you recently done any work beyond the PCV?
Scotty has a lot of videos on bad acceleration.
My car did not like the discount PCV and demanded the OEM one.
I'm gonna research it because it's sounding like your problem just went bad to worse and may/may not be PCV related.
Make sure everything is tight. Make sure distributor cables (or what ya have), battery cables are snug.
I'll see what I can find.
