7 speed manual

Do you think Ford would ever put the 7-speed Getrag manual transmission from the Bronco and put it in the ford mustang for improvement on transmission reliability? I do know that the six speeds are from China and are not the best despite some upgrades that are available for the older models.

Probably not,

the new Getrag 7 speed manual is rated for only 550NM - that’s not a lot at all…

(It’s quite a stretch even for the bronco 2.3T, that one makes 420NM leaving only a ~25% margin)

Ford could possibly develop a higher torque rated version but I doubt that they will.

What Ford has been doing is shipping new high-end mustangs with Termec transmissions (the Mustang Shelby GT350R shares its transmission model with the Camaro LTG / LGX)

I think they’re likely to continue this trend as (imo) getrag is just unable to develop reliable transmissions at this point.

The Ford PowerShift (Made by Getrag) was a mess, and now they somehow managed to screw up making a manual…
