Hello,
I purchased a 1995 GMC k1500 to get me through the winter, 198K miles (automatic). My power steering line was spraying tons of fluid directly onto the belt which then got thrown all over the engine bay. I ended up replacing the pump reservoir and lines and my belt, and did my best to clean up the mess in the bay. I started having issues idling, it would start idling high, and then eventually stall. I ended up replacing the idle air valve because it had a bad seal, which fixed the idling issue, but then it started to drive extremely sluggishly and id have to pedal to the floor to get it to get its butt moving. If I idled it to operating temp, id rarely have any issues driving.
It started acting up bad one day, regardless of engine temp, so I took it to my dads shop, he plugged it in and it threw back a MAP sensor code, so we replaced that, which seemed to work for all of 10 miles and now its been running sluggishly since then (about a week). Worst of all from a dead stop. RPMS drop, lose engine power and then it corrects, back and forth until I get where I'm going. It does act up every day but its not always a constant. Sometimes ill drive it for about 20 miles and then it will be fine the rest of the day. I know one spark plug is stuck, but I don't think its misfiring. It was acting up especially when the fuel was low, so I thought maybe there was some gunk in the bottom of the tank it was sucking up, but now its doing it even at a full tank. I saw the recent video about the 505 crf fuel treatment and i think im going to order some. I think it could possibly be the fuel injectors. What would you recommend?
I only have ~$2k total into it including the purchase price, and it hasn't stalled (except when it had idling issues) but id like to get it through the winter if possible.
Thanks
Fuel filter and fuel pump possibly. Are they original?
I replaced the filter. Good possibility the pump is original. And now that I'm remembering, I know one day there was fuel on the sides of the tank mixing with the brake fluid that was leaking back there, (had to redo the back brake lines). Good chance that's what it is. Thx for jogging my memory
