Only sometimes it shifts hard, otherwise smooth. 180k miles. If I drive somewhat agressive
it seems to shift smoother most of the time.
I live in Sweden and Volvo has no transmission service for privately owned automatic vehicles on original services,
but they do for vehicles like taxi and emergency vehicles, so even if the service book is filled out
I'm not sure the transmission fluid is ever changed. The car is in extremely good condition, the leather
almost have no cracks, have always been parked in a garage and it is rust free despite Sweden using salt on the roads during the winter.
Should I change the fluid? I definitely don't wanna risk flushing it. The engine runs like a dream and you can barely hear it
idling.
Kind regards, "Mike".
Your 25-year-old automatic transmission is probably on its way out, especially if the fluid has never been changed in all that time. See the FAQ for information on checking and changing fluid.
